Key Strategies for a Successful Inbound Marketing Campaign

Updated: Jul 19, 2021

HubSpot is a great learning resource for marketing your business. If you haven’t checked them out yet consider this info from their blog postings on strategizing your inbound marketing.

Inbound marketing is a business methodology that attracts customers by creating valuable content and experiences tailored to them. This is so that customers don't feel like they are being sold to. It builds trust, reputation, and authority in whatever niche you are practicing this form of marketing. This is particularly important if you're selling big ticket items and one where your customers would typically do research before buying. (It’s still an important strategy even when your product is an impulse buy but less so.) When building an inbound strategy campaign your business must:

  • Attract: Draw in the right people with valuable content and conversations that establish you as a trusted advisor with whom they want to engage. (Creating blog articles, content offers, and social media — that provide value.)

  • Engage: Presenting insights and solutions to customers that align with their needs and goals so they are more likely to buy from you. (Be sure you’re always solution selling vs product selling.)

  • Delight: Providing help and support to empower your customers to find success with their purchase. (Ensuring customers are happy, satisfied, and supported long after they make a purchase.)

Examples of inbound marketing are:

  • Topical blogs

  • Social media campaigns (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest)

  • Ebooks

  • Search Engine Optimized (SEO) website text

  • White papers

  • Case study (customer spotlight)

  • Viral videos

  • Infographics

  • Web-based seminars (Webinars)

  • Podcast

According to HubSpot, it’s important to:

  • Set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely)

  • Set key metrics & benchmarks (visits, contacts, customers)

  • Create an Actual plan

The importance of a successful inbound marketing campaigns cannot be overstated. It builds brand awareness and brand loyalty. As with most campaign it won’t generate leads overnight, it’s more of a big picture, long-term strategy. In addition, Content Marketing Institute states, “ Inbound marketing generates three times more leads per dollar than traditional methods.”

If you haven’t already, it’s fiscally wise to invest in this type of campaign.
