Digital Marketing Trends: 2019

Trying to keep up with what digital marketing has in store for us? It's no secret - digital is the way to go. While traditional marketing is still a proven network - you need to be where your consumers are - online! Here's what to watch for in 2019 - stay tuned, these trends could help make or break your business. VOICE SEARCH Yup. Siri, Alexa and Google Home will soon be in more homes, doing more things. But will it help your business? There has been a steady rise of Google and Amazon voice search products. In fact, one researcher predicts that by 2020 - 30% of all web browsing sessions will be made by voice-activated searches. Hmm. While we aren't sure how this will conflict with traditional brands - we'll only have to wait and see.

PROGRESSIVE WEB APPS (PWA) Do you know how many consumers shop from their phone? How about 70%? PWA is a way of building your website on a specific platform. Think of when you Google something - you'll be able to save the website you're interested in, so you can access the content much faster offline! Better yet? You'll be able to send push-notifications to users. We like! Stay-tuned for more on this.

SOCIAL MEDIA Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram Stories are still kin - as long as it doesn't interrupt the user. There has been an increase in ad blocking technology. Pop-up banners, automatic videos will soon decrease, as brands shift toward native advertising techniques.

TRANSPARECY Consumers today don't care about you. Yup. They only want to know about the products or services they're purchasing - and where they come from. It's important to be upfront online with your potential customers about the who, what, when, how and why of your brand.

CHATBOTS Have you chatted with a BOT yet? I have - and I have to say the experience was simple and painless. Chatbots will be used more in mobile-purchasing. Some say that by 2020, 85% of all B2C interactions will be with a Chatbot.

VISUAL RECOGNITION Ok, I cracked up when my boyfriend tried to log into his computer using his "eyes" - he has that new software where the laptop will recognize your face for the log-in. I can't help but roll my eyes at the frustration. Not to worry, I'm talking about a different visual recognition. The use of cookies (they track your every move on a site) can now track your behavior when interacting with images. Major brands want to know if a user had a positive impression with an image or showcased product. With this kind of technology, they'll be able to tell if you're a 35 year old female living in Connecticut (oh, that's me!).

I'll be happy to dive in depth more with these trends as they unfold. Be sure to drop me a line with any questions or comments. sharon@saltyreddogmarketing.com
